During their keynote at the Mobile Convention in Amsterdam, Vincent Hoogsteder took the stage to give the public some statistics and information on his company. Though some stats where already mentioned in their latest reports, Distimo did provide some new insights into the App Store market. How To Fix Broken or Crashing iPhone Apps

Anyone who's had an iPhone or iPod touch for a while knows that sometimes apps just stop working. In some cases a single app will stop working while the rest seem just fine. The first step is reboot your phone, but sometimes that doesn't work. In that case, the solution is generally to delete the app from your iPhone and the re-download it.However, in some rare instances, all of your third-party iPhone apps can stop working, even after a reboot. I'm not 100% sure why this happens, but it seems to be an issue with the FairPlay DRM database becoming corrupted. I've found that the best solution is to download another app from the App Store.

Syncing Apps: How To Select All/Select None

By now most of you have probably accumulated a ton of apps, but you don't want every one of them to sync to your iPhone. You have it set up the way you want it now, but if you restore or sync a new device, iTunes will try to sync every app you have. So the easiest solution is likely to deselect all of the apps you have an manually select the ones you want synced. To do this, go to the applications sync tab in iTunes and command-click (control-click on Windows) the checkbox next to an app. This will tell iTunes to uncheck every app, not just the individual app you clicked on. From there you can check the apps you want. It works in reverse too, but for this example we're assuming you don't want to select them all. Enjoy!

Parent tips for elementary school kids

  • Ask yourself: Do they really need a phone? Is it for safety reasons? Or because "everyone" has them?

  • Make sure young kids understand the rules. If your kids have phones, make sure you have programmed everyone’s numbers into the phones so that they display the names of who is calling. Tell them not to answer calls from numbers they don’t know. Make rules for time spent talking, what phones are used for, and make sure they know when the phones should be off.

  • Young kids don't need texting.

Parent tips for teens

  • No texting or talking while driving. Never. That’s how kids get into traffic accidents – the #1 killer of teens.
  • Make sure they pick up your call. Many teens treat incoming calls from mom and dad as a nuisance. As long as you are paying the bills, make a rule: They have to answer when you call.
  • Have them review each month’s bill. Let them see precisely how many minutes they are spending on the phone or texting.
  • Make sure you anticipate increased minutes. By the time they get to high school, the phone is ringing all the time.
  • Draw boundaries. No phones at the dinner table. In the car. In a restaurant. Remind them they have only a couple of years left at home to have annoying conversations with you face to face!
